I was born in Flushing, New York and lived in Port Washington until I was nine, when we relocated to Florida. After about 18 months in Tampa, my family settled in Largo, in Pinellas county.
I attended Seminole High School, and then moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech and study physics. As a 5-year co-op student, I worked full time every other quarter to gain experience and pay for school. During my time as an intern, I worked on many projects, including DISAMS (Digitally Integrated Surface to Air Missile Simulation).
Upon receiving my B.S. in Physics, I joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to the Central African region. After 12 weeks of French language and teacher training, I began teaching physical science to middle school Gabonese students at the Lycée d’État de Tchibanga, in Southern Gabon.
When my two years in the Peace Corps were up, I returned to Atlanta where I:
-
taught high school physics and chemistry in public and independent schools.
-
received my Masters in Science Education from Georgia State University.
-
bought a house.
-
got married.
-
had two daughters.
In 2005, we felt the pull of home and sunshine, and relocated to Sarasota. I taught math and physics at Riverview for three years, then got bumped to Pine View. I have been here ever since.
This academic year has me teaching AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism. When I’m not teaching, tutoring, grading, or planning, I’m spending time with my wife Stacy, and rowing with Sarasota Crew Masters.
